about

As part of a long term project to overhaul the so-called "power binary" of the older-younger-brother relationship The Brothers Bula (formerly known as Kit and Toby) strove ceaselessly to create and furnish a new methodology for understanding and living (in a dynamic/efficient pseudo-spiritual manner) the all new "we-name" vs. (and in contrast with) the "me-name(s)". Something that Kit, certainly and at least, hopes to role out in his relationship(s) with lovers, aunts and distant cousins. Toby, meanwhile, opting for a more ambassodorial role vis a vis, but not exclusively, the whole world (as and so it forthcomes, with or without and such forth) goes for a much more domineering, but instructive, approach.

credits

released September 30, 2023

The Brothers Bula are Kit Bula and Toby Bula-Edge.

Tracks 1-11 recorded in Bexhill Coronation Bandstand on 22/09/23. Engineered and produced by Tom "Larry Legs" Jones.

Track 12 recorded in Fond Coffee (Canterbury) on 27/10/22. Engineered by Sam Bailey and released here with the kind permission of Free Range. freerangecanterbury.org

Tracks 2 and 4 were vaguely composed by The Brothers Bula. Tracks 1, 6, 8, 10 are improvisations by the aforementioned brothers. Track 12 was composed specifically for Free Range performance #240 (to summon spirits) and performed under the guise of the Shastik Cret Menagerie, but it was also written by said Brothers Bula. Tracks 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 are composed by a variety of other people that I don't know the names of, but were abused by The Brothers Bula to such an extent that their composers would likely wash their hands of them.
