about

A recording of the great cult underground prog jazz, fourth world experimentalists Tsar Bom Bap taken at the pinnacle of their career in an intimate gig in The Shasm Quarters. The Shasm Quarters of course known for their rowdy parties fuelled by cocaine and vaporised absinthe (piped through the ventilation). At the insistence of Tsar Bom Bap the absinthe and cocaine were barred from this performance.

A packed house. Hundreds gathered round to listen to the soaring recorder solos of Richard Benett; the miraculous bongos and percussive additions of James Banbury; the robotic drumming of Clarence Curtail; the splendid vocals of Lee Worth; the bass playing of Ismael Underhythe and the beautiful and sometimes emotionally disturbing piano playing of Julian and, not to forget, the various contributions (both technical and performative) of "Big Reg", Stephen Crestingle, Phyllis Cretamange, Betsy Cribbs and Dan Brunnigan-Smith Jr.

Tsar Bom Bap represent a fusion of many artists that they had the joy to work alongside throughout their 50 year plus career. Artists as varied as: Crissilly; Lansworth Crust Experiment; Raston Brust; Climp Pickings and the Sance-Tones; TH3; Webster Manster; Claston Frust; Bastworth Clisty; Clit; Zambian Mafia; Borr-a-ronge Spasm; Little Chimmy Changa and His Big House Band; Slamming Rambon Staffy Gifford; Slister Bosom; Big Reg's Hoe's Toes; Limmington Bartholem; Bissted Fass; Lil Lil Lil Lil F F F; Marston Q (the pianist); Phamming and Span Fack.

After Tsar Bom Bap died in a house fire they were sorely missed.

They were supported by Alub Srehtorb, whose set is also included.
